What's the neme for this job?

    Good evening.

I would like to know the correct name for this job: a person who works at a school, not a teacher, nor a part of the administrative personnel. Basically, someone who helps the teacher, getting him/her what is needed in terms of equipment; who does some kind of surveillance during class breaks...

I really don't know if you understand what I mean. School systems are different in different countries! If you can, please help me.

    Thank you.

No, At my school, this job also involves cleaning the classrooms; accompanying the parents who want to speak to a teacher - they do a litttle bit of this and a little bit of that, but absolutely no teaching.

There is no such person in UK schools. Someone who helps a teacher in the classroom would be a classroom assistant, but they would not be expected to do any cleaning.

There's no such equivalent in US schools either. However, if this person deals mainly with the equipment, maybe you could call him/her a technology specialist or simply a teacher's aide. I know that in some schools teacher's aide is asked to supervise students during lunch and clean the tables (but only in private schools, like day care.)

I thank all of you. I think there is no equivalent, really. This job is something between janitor and teacher's aide.

Re: What's the neme for this job?

well, when I was a kid there was an old lady at my school, she was in charge of cleaning restrooms, giving lunch to kids and sometimes spanking some of us with a broom to make us go back to the classroom...hard to find a name for this job...
