What place do you think you are in the history
what place do you think you have in the history?
Hi teachers, which one is correct? Thanks~
Neither is correct. Say:
What place do you think you have in history?![]()
I assume you mean 'why no the?'
I can answer in two ways:
1...If you want to use "the", I will ask you 'the history of what?' History is just history; you don't need a "the".
2...You would use "the" if you are talking about a particular part of history. 'What place do you think you willl have in the history of Hong Kong?'
Eventually, you will become such a fluent speaker that you may develop the tendancy to swallow the the entirely. Often we know it is there, but never quite hear it.
"I'm going to (almost indistinguisable slight breath or pause here) bank"
The Reds is the reason English is very difficult for foreigners here, isn't it?The Reds?

P.S. 2006's answer was better than mine. It should be:
What place do you think you will have in history? (No "the" there.)
