    get vs. be

    what's the difference between get and be generally in these statements:

    1.don't get offended and don't be offended.

    2.i got married two years ago and i was married two years ago

    3.i am used to it and i get used to it.

    The verb get introduces a change of state, whereas the verb be is a verb of state telling us that something exists and lasts.

    don't be offended With two possible meanings...
    A) don't become offended
    b) don't stay offended (you are offended now)

    2.i got married two years ago it means my marriage took place two years ago

    i was married two years ago with two possible meanings
    a) my marriage took place two years ago
    b) two years ago i had a (husband)(wife)...but you don''t know when i got married or if i am stilll married

    3.i am used to it and i got used to it. both And mean the same if you are talking about the present
    i get used to it and expresses a recurring result
