I'm an English teacher. I live in Machala Ecuador South America but I think I have a strong latin accent. What can I do?
Just listen to BBC or any other Radio which has clear diction and try to follow it. Do not try to mimmick the natives, their diction is not clear and usage of English is poor.
I would also advise you to learn dictionary reading and try to pronounce the words as per the pronounciation gazzetteer. Following standard pronouciation is a better strategy than going for some accented English pronounciation. And why should you be ashamed of your Latin accent, you belong to that place and thus have that accent. You cannot change that as you cannnot change your parents. It is the knowledge and clear diction which is more important than the accent.
