    what does mean ACK in this statement ?

    Seems to be an idiosyncratic (of the writer's own creation) abbreviation for 'acknowledge', perhaps meaning, 'I acknowledge receipt of your email, and thanks for the help (that perhaps was contained in your email to him.)

    And the original perpetrators may well have been the designers of communications protocols. "ACK" and "NAK" go together; so, for example, TCP (the basis for much net traffic) has 'ACK and NAK packets' whereas UDP doesn't. The ACK packet tells the remote machine 'OK, I've got that, what else?' The NAK packet tells the remote machine 'Umm, I didn't quite catch that.'
