    draw on or draw upon
    : to use as a source of supply <drawing on the whole community for support>

    DRAW UPON, RELY ON, DEPEND ON have the same meaning; to use as a source of support. Try to replace DRAW UPON with RELY ON or DEPEND ON in the sentence below:They have to draw upon the river for their water.They have to rely on the river for their water.They have to depend on the river for their water.Notice that the meaning never change.
