Question we was distant to me

For months I'd suspected my first husband, Steve, now 45 and a civil servant, had been having an affair. My mind raced with images of younger, prettier women because we was distant to me and seemed to have undergone a distinct character change.
Hi! The quoted paragraph is from the Daily Mail. I think it is grammatically wrong in the sentence I highlighted in red. Am I right?

It should be " we were distant to each other."

Re: we was distant to me

I think the more likely explanation is that "we" is a typo for "he."
