    appreciate

    Hi there,

    1. I would appreciate it if you could arrange the appointment for April 12.
    2. It would be appreciated if you could arrange the appointment for April 12.

    Question
    Is number 2 wrong?
If no, is it more formal than number 1?

    Thanks
    pete

you could use 1 in speaking. why did you put 'it' in 1 and not 2? you dont need it.
you wouldn't say 2 in speaking!! it would sound rude. but you could use it in a formal letter.

    Re: appreciate

    Hi there,
I think no.2 is wrong. I check the dictionary. There is no such pattern.

    Thanks

    Re: appreciate

It is not wrong. It's impersonal.

I would appreciate a quick response.

A quick response would be appreciated.

It would be appreciated (apparently by me, but I'm too distant to tell you this) if a quick response were given (apparently by you, but I won't say that either).
