    Question hand out, pass out?

    Could someone correct these commands?

    "Please hand out the books"
    "Please pass out the books"

Then when you want to collect the books

    "Please gather the books"

    Re: hand out, pass out?

I'd use collect instead of gather. Depending on age, relations, etc, you could use 'Could you please...' in all of them to be polite.
