    Stew usually involved many different ingredients - many types of vegetables plus meet and broth.

    Chowder is usually cream-based and has one main incredient: clams, corn, etc. It will probably have a few other things too, but the focus is on the one thing.

    And bisque is usually tomato and cream, I believe.
