    axiom Vs assumption

    Hello,

Is there any significant difference in meaning or usage between an axion and an assumption ?

    Btw
I've read the dictionary entries but I'm still confused.
    Cheers,

    Cheers,
    A massive difference:

An axiom is a self-evident truth that requires no proof.

An assumption is a supposition, or something that is take for granted without questioning or proof.

However, Axiom in Logic has a slightly different meaning of a proposition that is assumed without proof for the sake of studying the consequences that follow from it.
