    X's loss

    hiiiiii

    My friend Y told me that X's father passed away. How to respond in such a situation? Are any of the sentences below ok? If not, could someone please tell me the right way to respond?

    * I am sorry to hear about X's father's passing away.
    * I am sorry to hear about X's father's death.
    * I am sorry to hear about X's loss.

    Regards,
    Muktha

    ,

    Well, I think that you did it!

    They are all true and appropriate!

    And you can use any one you like.

    But I think that it is better to omit this "to hear ", so you say:

    * I am sorry about X's father's passing away.
    * I am sorry about X's father's death.
    * I am sorry about X's loss.

    Good Luck,
