    dollar vs dollars

    Hi,

I am french educated and in french we say "3 millions" whereas in english we say "3 million". I am wondering if the same applies for dollars. i.e if I want to say $1000 do I say dollar or dollars?
    thanks

    Re: dollar vs dollars

It cost $1,000 (a thousand dollars)
The yacht cost $3,000,000 (three million dollars)
    I paid with a $100 note ( a one hundred dollar note)

    Note David's last example:

The yacht cost three million dollars
    but
ɪt was a three million dollar yacht
