    Please explain me

Can anyone please explain me the meaning of this quote… Thanks!

Love is the difficult realization that something other than oneself is real.

Love is the difficult realization that something other than oneself is real.
This means that before you love, your mind and thoughts are selfish - always on yourself, not really caring about anyone but yourself. It's only when you fall in love, or start to love, that you completely realize that other people are also important - perhaps one special other person. It's a difficult realisation because you have to adjust all your ideas to the fact that another person has become as important to you are you are to yourself.

That's one opinion. It might not be exactly what the writer meant.

Incidentally, in Br Eng 'explain me the meaning' is fine (though the thread's title isn't, unless you are requesting psychoanalysis )

'Explain me' would work if 'me' was the direct object of 'explain'. A psychoanalyst is a person who explains how people's minds work; he explains them. (Not very funny - )
