    go off vs. go out

    Is there any difference between:

    The light went off.
    The light went out.

Re: go off vs. go out

    Not really.

To a tiny extent, I think of "off" as being someone turning the switch, while "out" means the power was cut, but not exclusively. Someone can "put out the light" as well as "turn off the light."
