Question "on the Earth" or "on the earth"

Hello! Could you please tell me which one is grammatically correct? I think #1 is correct.

#1There're many animals on the Earth.

#2 There're many animals on the earth.

And I think I should capitalize "Sun" and put "the" before it. Am I right?

By the way, are those grammatical questions? I think yes.

    Thanks!

Re: "on the Earth" or "on the earth"

I would say it depends on the importance that you give to that Earth. Eg I am used to seing written 'Earth' when someone is talking about our planet, Earth.

By the way, I have just looked it up and it seems we have got to type 'Earth'.

Not a teacher at all, anyway
