    Smile menaing

    By the time the principal returned, I was looking out of the window. We must have talked about this and that, the arrangements for the Graduation Day perhaps. He was a nice man. He might have left the piece of paper in that prominent position to test me, knowing how keen I was to win the essay prize. But that wasn't his style.
    What is the meaning of the last sentence?

    He is not the sort of person to put this kind of temptation in the way of a student. He is an honest man.
