paraphrasing of words and word combinations 5

    Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough to revise my paraphrasing of the bolded words and word combinations from the following sentences?

1.1. Approximately 2,000 union white collars at the corporation plant went on strike again yesterday.
1.2. Approximately 2,000 union employees at the corporation plant went on strike again yesterday.

2.1. The company offered only 7 cents per hour wage raise. The union rejected the company offer as being inadequate.
2.2. The company offered only 7 cents per hour wage raise. The union rejected the company offer as too scanty.

3.1. The workers have downed tools over the sacking of their shop steward.
3.2. The workers have kept away from work over the sacking of their shop steward.

    Thank you for your efforts.

    Regards,

    V.

Sorry, I'm out of time ... and not sure what you are asking. Maybe someone else will help.

The only one that stands out is "white collars", I think it should be white collar workers.

    Hi mxreader,

There are a few explanatory words concerning the matter in question:

white colars = a descriptive term for office workers, who use a minimum of physical exertion, as opposed to blue-collar laborers. Managerial, clerical, and sales jobs are common white-collar occupations.
employee = a person who, under the direction and control of the employer, performs services for remuneration

    inadequate = insufficient, short, scanty

down tools (idiom) (British&Australian) = to refuse to work, especially because you are not satisfied with your pay or working condition
The workers were “kept away from work” by the union leaders. (they made the workers to go on a strike over the sacking of their shop steward)

    Regards,

    V.

Not totally synonymous as "employees" could be any worker in the factory, whether labouring or managerial. "White collar workers".

#2 is rather too informal for this situation. #1 is the obvious way to say this.

3.1. The workers have downed tools over the sacking of their shop steward.
3.2. The workers have kept away from work over the sacking of their shop steward.

The workers have struck / have gone on strike over......

    Thank you for your efforts.
