    two question for experts !-)

    Hello guys,
iam just still confused about definition infividual components in non-finite clauses.

    Question 1)

Eg. I suggest you going home.

WHat is the non-finite clause in this sentence? Is it: you going home or only going home ?

Is the direct object "you" part of the finite clause I suggest you or is it part of the non-finite clause thus going home ?

    Question 2)

What about this present participle clause:

Him/his leaving school... What does the pronoun his (or him) stand for in non-finite clauses (in this case, in present participle clauses)?

    Thank you

The first sentence doesn't work for me- I'd use 'go' or maybe 'your going'. I also don't think that you can separate 'you' and regard it as the direct object by itself. If the suggestion were a nomination of an individual, it could be, but here it's the whole thing (you going home) that was suggested IMO.
