    different from before

You moved to Montreal in order to raise and educate him but things doesn't seem to be different from before.

    hi,

    is this sentence fine, please?

should I say "to have changed" instead of the underlined text?

    thanks.

    Re: different from before

    Hello ,

I'm not a teacher of english or like, so take my answer with reserve
Your sentence sounds just fine to me. If you change the underlined part with "to have changed" it will also sound just as fine without any change in the meaning. It's interesting that my non-native ear liked "than" more than "from" in " different from before" in the first moment but after checking google and british and american corpus it proved to be even more frequent (in the terms of the number of the google hits) and has the same meaning of course . Or I'm unable to feel the nuance in the meaning . .If you already don't use it , let me suggest you using British national corpus or the American national corpus to clear doubts on similar problems. Here are the links :

    British National Corpus (BYU-BNC)

Corpus of Contemporary American English (COCA)

    Best regards
