    Post using "the"

Would you explain why "the" is omitted before youngest in the follwing sentence? THANKS

The third and youngest son of Syed.

I thought "the" comes before all the words like - the best, the youngest, the oldest etc.

The refers to third as well as to youngest - it's still the same person you're referring to (son of Syed), right?

The third and (the) youngest son of Syed.
