Exclamation A Difficult Phrase in English

The probability thhhat both A and B will occur equals the probability of A times the probability of B given that A has occurred.

What does "given that" mean in this phrase??

Re: A Difficult Phrase in English

    Hello H&K,

It seems to mean "assuming that"; or simply "if".

    Best wishes,
