    What does this mean?

Here is a paragraph from a book:
    1) confirm by document inspection and observation that the compensation setting for each sensor is retained in a non-volatile memory and that it is automatically applied when each sensor is selected.
What does the part in boldtype mean?
Is it mean we should confirm by document inspection and ovservation or we have onfimed by document inspection and observation or what?

    Re: What does this mean?

The sentence is badly phrased. It implies that the document has sensors, which is silly. I would guess that the author wants the reader to set the sensor settings of a device (or compare them) to the recommended settings in a users manual or educational text.

    Good Luck with that

    Re: What does this mean?

I think the 'document inspection and observation' was meant to be 'documented (adjective) inspection and observation', which means the inspection and observation are to be recorded.

'Is it mean' - Does it mean
