    hi,
    is it possible to say


    There are two bookcases: ONE is next to the tv and ONE is next to the chest of drawers.

    This sentence sounds fine to me. As a variation, you can say .....one is next to the tv and the other is next to the chest of drawers. Frequently, at least in informal speech, the verb "is" is omitted: one next to....and one next to......
