    quote question

what is the part of a sentence right after dialogue that tells who said it called? The "said dave" part right after the end quotation. I read a book that told about a clever way of writing these so that they are funny and either contradict the quote for humor or further prove the quotes point.

    Re: quote question

I have always called the 'said Dave' part of the sentence the attribution, but there may be other terms as well.
