Re: Fruit flies like a banana=?

"Fruit flies" are a type of insect that eats fruit. The joke is that the word flies can be the third-person singular of the verb to fly, or it can be the plural of the noun "fly." It is also a play on the two meanings of the word like ("similar to" and "enjoy"). It wouldn't be very funny if it said, "The flight of time is similar to that of an arrow; Drosophila melanogasters enjoy eating bananas."
