Re: Sth extends through... body ?

Certain stretching exercises can feel like they extend through the body, but someone cannot extend through the body.

Why not tell us the context? It has no meaning in English otherwise.

It was in a stretching exercise description, I don't remember exactky. I think the exercise was about standing upside down. And the man wrote that the standing extends trhough the body. It's the context I can tell you because I don't know any other.

Yes, if you could stand upside down, say on the ceiling, your whole body would be stretched, and you'd become taller (or is it shorter if you're now closer to the ground? )
Everything in the body is affected by gravity, and if you could make yourself stand upside down, a lot of your joints (especially in the spine) would be less compressed.
That's the theory behind those "hanging upside down in special boots on a frame" was meant to work. I haven't seen them lately. Maybe people kept falling out of the boots onto their heads.
