    What reason would you give for using the different prepostion in blue below, with the word marriage?

    He's been married to her for five years.

    He's married with two kids.

    Dear Roselin:

    He's been married to her for five years. (People get married to each other, and this couple have been married for five years.

    He's married with two kids. (He is married describes his civil status. The sentence goes on to give the additional information that he has two children. The implication is that the marriage has resulted in these two children.)
