    Unhappy Simple Question

    Hi Everybody

i have a simple question which's funny to ask .

This Sentence : * The workers have to see the manager .

is the past tense : * The workers had to see the manager . ?

I'm sure the past is that , but my teacher says you have to say :

    * The workers met the manager .

Please explain if it's true ...

    Re: Simple Question

I would use 'had to'. 'Met' does not carry the same meaning of obligation, so while it is true that they met him, it is not the way to transform the original sentence IMO.
