    'money pit'

In terms of economic incentives to the auto sector, lets wait as see what the U.S. congress does before we commit ourselves to a money pit.

    Hi,
What does this mean, please? I couldn't find the meaning in the dictionary.
    Thanks!

    Re: 'money pit'

"A money pit" suggest a bottomless pit into which you pour money, with no hope of ever filling it.

There was a Chevy Chase movie of that name, I believe. It referred to the money he was spending on the renovations of a house. There was simply no end to the expenses involved. The house was a "money pit."
