where does a word come from?

If I want to know from where a specific word comes, I mean it is France word, Italian word or so, which dictionary should I look up?

BTW could you rephrase my question?

    Thanks a bunch.

    Use an etymological dictionary.

What kind of dictionary should I use if I want to find out the origin and history of a word?
