    contribute/throw in

    Hello

In some ways, because he is the one who doesn't have to worry so much about the music or the lyrics, he has a freedom to contribute things you would never have thought of, to throw in something that is way outside of the discussion.

--- I'm not sure I understand the parts in bold. Does the first one mean that he has more time and can do different things?

    Thanks

    Re: contribute/throw in

It could mean that, it depends on the context.
