    shoes

Are things in set always in the plural?
    for example

    shoes
    gloves
    etc
When making setences about these things, shall we must use only the plural?

    For example,

Shoes are things that are wore on the feet

    Is it possible to say

a shoe is a thing that is wore on the feet
