    Is this sentence correct?

I regret not being able to go to the cinema last night.
"I wish I could have gone to the cinema last night." I think this sentence is incorrect becouse we use the structure "could have+pp."for deduction and speculation about the past and not about the ability. Thank you

    Re: Is this sentence correct?

"I wish I could have gone to the cinema last night."
This is correct. It indicates that you wanted to go but could NOT (were unable to) for an unknown reason.

"I regret not being able to go to the cinema last night."
This is not correct "last night" indicates the past. The best correct construction should be...
"I regret that I was (past) unable (not able) to go..."
