Re: Is tavern commonly used in English?

Hi i am not a teacher but i am sure that this will help you understand this term .

Tavern :- A building with a bar that is licensed to sell alcoholic drinks.

this is the formal definition of it ... it is not commonly used term. because these days people use terms like pubs, bars, lounge etc...
\Tavern is taken as tantamount for pubs , bars etc. some light meals are also provided here.
