    Anglika: et tu Brutus

    ding dong, not so merrily.

I thank the forum for having been an outlet for my conversational needs, living as I do in relative isolation in Scotland; and for being a chance to develop and hone any ability I possess to pass on my love for our language.

Raymott - I enjoy. But when one is out-numbered with the humourlessness in others -anathema. And when it rules the day...

    Vale David L.

I need to get out into the real world.

    What do you mean?

    Are you leaving us?

Whatever you do, David, it's your choice. But I would prefer to see you here rather than to see you leave.
Thank you, David, so much for helping me a number of times.

I regard you as my teacher. In fact, I've learnt a lot from you and want to learn more. And I believe other learners do want to learn more. Why are you leaving us? Did anything hurt you? If you think you are tired. You can have a rest for some days but leaving us forever is not good for us. I request you to keep leading us as a good teacher. An ordinary teacher teaches but a good teacher leads.

I need to get out into the real world.
Since you are kind enough to keep invoking my name, I'll comment.
Perhaps you are due for a holiday. I thought you were going to America for a few months (I was looking forward to it).
I took your post about icons to be a serious suggestion, as apparently did Tdol and others, who all responded appropriately. That they responded differently from how you had hoped does not indicate humourlessness. It means that obviously not everyone can read the tone of your posts; or that they disagree with you - which I hope is still their right.
I doubt you'll leave. You have little tantrums like this every few months and you're still here. I hope this isn't yet another unwarranted grab for sympathy.
I can't predict whether a break would do you any good. That's your call.
