    Question hoodies and huskies=?

David Cameron has had few fiercer critics than me. I loathed his propensity to hug hoodies and huskies, his limp-wristed approach to the economy and his obsession with spin.
I considered him to be too privileged, too detached, and too opportunistic to be worthy of leading the Tories, let alone the country.
So why is it that this week I feel an unfamiliar desire to leap to his defence.

    Hello!

Q1: David Cameron has had few fiercer critics than me.= Few people criticise David Cameron?

    Q2: hoodies and huskies=?

    Thanks!

    Q1: 'Fraid not!
The writer is really saying Cameron has lots of fierce critics, but not one of them is as fierce a critic as she was.

Q2: Cameron got some bad publicity when he suggested we should "hug a hoodie." A hoodie being a youth who wears a hooded jacket with the hood pulled up to hide his face usually when committing a crime. Cameron suggested (rightly) that not all hoodies are criminals, but was ridiculed for this statement.
He also went to somewhere like Alaska or somewhere in the frozen north and was pictured hugging a huskie dog - again to universal derision.

Thank you, Buggles. Why was he ridiculed that he hugged a huskie dog?

    Dear Daffodils:

    Dear Daffodils:

Just wanted to add one thing:

Q1: David Cameron has had few fiercer critics than me.= Few people criticise David Cameron?

This means that the writer is a fierce critic of Cameron, and that there have been critics who are fiercer, but only a few.

Mainly because ot the huge carbon footprint he'd generated by going all that way for what seemed to be just a photo opportunity to demonstrate his green credentials!

I don't follow it. Could you elucidate it? Thanks!

I meant to say that everything of that nature (hugging huskies etc) that he and other politicians do, is for publicity to help them to get elected. It doesn't necessarily mean that it's something they genuinely care about.
