    What's the meaning of it?

I am listening a song called "Rolling Hills O' The Border" by Matt McGinn(here is the whole lyrics: www.lyricstime.com/back-of-the-moon-the-rolling-hills-o-the-borders-lyrics.html).
while there is something I can't understand anyway. In the lyrics it says:
"When I die, bury me low,
Where I can hear the bonny Tweed flow,
A sweeter place I never did know,
Than the rolling hills o' the border"

My question is why he use the word "Than"?
Does he mean that he likes River Tweed better than rolling hills of the border? But I've look for these places in Google Earth and I found that both River Tweed and rolling mountains are in the region called "Scottish Borders"~~
Furthermore in the rest of the lyrics it says:
"Often I hae mind o' the day
Wi' my lass, I strolled by the Tay,
But all it's beauty fades away
Among the hills o' the border"
So I think he likes the hills of the border(Scottish Borders).

    Anyone help me please?

It means that he has never known a sweeter place than the hills of the border.

    Thank you very much!
Then I know that" A sweeter place I never did know,Than the rolling hills o' the border" is just one sentence: "I never did know a sweeter place than the rolling hills".
    Thanks again!
