    Since their days at college

I look up "mellow" in dictionary and it gives this sentence " She had mellowed a great deal since their days at college." It says that "since their days at college" means after their graduation."

I would like to know whether ".....since their days at college" is different from "......since they had studied at college" but the same with ".......since they studied at college."

    Thanks

I would not use "had" either; it's a useless word there.
