    Smile "even while"

    Dear all,

I read this sentence in :

"Chinese authorities have begun blocking access from mainland China to the Web site of The New York Times even while lifting some of the restrictions they had recently imposed on the Web sites of other media outlets."

What is the meaning of "even while"? Please kindly help me, thank you. ^^

She claimed to be dieting, even while she ate an entire pint of ice cream.

She talked of her strict approach to child rearing even while giving her son a cookie just before dinner after he whined.
