    bad extra

    Hi

What does it mean when someone says: I was dressed like a bad extra on Star Trek.

---- I know this movie, but I'm not sure what "bad extra" is? It associates me with another villain in the movie....

    Thanks

An "extra" in a film or play is a "bit-part player". This is an actor who plays a very minor role - often a non-speaking part. These are the people who form the crowd, walk past the main actors on the street, appear chatting in the distance and so on.

A "bad extra" is one who has been given a silly set of clothes or is badly made up as an alien or that sort of thing, so someone wearing, say, a tunic style dress with lace-up sandals might be compared to a bad extra on Star Trek.
