I know that the word "collaborate" means "to work together with a person to achieve something" However, I'm wondering if this can also mean to "change something" or "to add something" to something else.

EG: I wrote a song, but Mike collaborated on the lyrics.

--- Can it mean that Mike "added something new" or "changed something"???

    Re: collaborate

I have only ever met it as indicating that more than one person worked together on a project.
