    articles

I'm not sure about the articles (underlined) in the following sentences:

    1. The sky was a joyless grey.
    2. 'A March wind is an ill wind,' she used to say.
    3. You could tell the sort of man he was from the car he drove.

If my choice of articles is correct, is it the only possible one?

    Re: articles

They are all correct. In 2/ you could also use 'The March wind...'

Thanks. Is it possible to drop the article in the first sentence?

    Re: articles

Yes, you can drop the article and say only "The sky was joyless {gray/grey}". It's purely a style choice.
