    Tipping the velvet

    Hi,

Is this phrase 'Tipping the velvet' vulgar?

If so, I wonder why there is a novel titled 'Tipping the velvet' in UK?

If not, how possible to use this phrase in daily life conversation? I mean people use this phrase widely in their conversation or not.

    Please help.

    Re: Tipping the velvet

It is vulgar but it's not common.

I only know the meaning because of a TV series on the BBC which was based on a book with this title.

It is said to refer to preforming oral sex on a woman, but it's not likely to cause offence now because people won't know what it means.

Thanks, jamiep. I knew this phrase from BBC TV series as well.

    Now I get it.
