Thumbs up What is the proper past term for Stay?

I know it is stayed but where I live people have the tendecy to say stood, which I know is not the right term. For example (I stayed, stood the night at my friends house last night.)

    stay, stayed, stayed.
    stand, stood, stood.

You can tell your friends they're wrong. (Unless they are actually saying "stayed" but mispronouncing it as "stood").
