    Smile let you know

    Please, dear teachers and friends....

I know this expression is understandable, but not smooth...

and they let you know what context they are talking over

so, please, could you give some suggestions?

    Many thanks!

    Re: let you know

I'm afraid that doesn't make any sense to me.

    context:
I was showing a friend a free software that can play tv channels right from one's pc, so, that friends needs to know the context before watching the tv programmes. Then I said:

they let you know what context they are talking about/over

    something like...

they let you know what they are talking about.

but I felt like I had to include the word "context".

Thanks for your efforts in advance!

    Re: let you know

They tell something about what you are going to watch? They describe it? They explain what the program is about?

That software I was talking about can provide TV shows in many languages... and this friend I am referring to is trying to learn a new language, however, he's still at the beginning, so, he asked if the TV shows could give a short introduction before playing the show, like a class. Something like that.

    Re: let you know

That's it! They give a brief introduction explaining what the program is about.

Yeah, they do. But... I am afraid that's not the point!
    The point is:
is this expression grammatically OK? and does it sound natural?

They let you know what context they are talking over.

    Thanks

    Re: let you know

They let you know what context they are talking over. Sorry, this doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Do you mean that they explain the content of the programs that will be shown?

    exactly....

However, your sentence is much better, of course.

They explain the content of the programs previously.

Sometimes my English embarrasses me! Never mind.

Thank you guys for all your comments!
