    Question Please help

    Hi,

    Please advise and explain which appropriate verb should be used in the following sentences:

    a)We were playing when we saw the boy fall/falls/fell/fallen down the stairs.

    b)Dennis saw the robber enter/enters/entered/had entered his neighbour's house.

    In these sentences you have a so-called Complex Object construction. It consists of the nominal part (which indicates the doer of the action) and the predicative part (the action itself). The nominal part is expressed by a noun and the predicative part - by an infinitive.
    So in (a) this complex is 'the boy fall' and in (b) - 'the robber enter'.
