    I am not a teacher.

Generally, good is an adjective, well an adverb.

    As in, for example:
The book was good (good book)
Or, The book was well written, or written well.

However, to add to the confusion, you can say "I feel well" indicating the state of your health. Or, you can say "I feel good about how well I did on that examination."

Clark, you and our recent conversation came to mind.
How do you teach someone the difference when they are probably not even familiar with the different parts of speech, let alone their functions. As long as this is the case, they have no choice but to learn parrot-fashion.

Would you say to your students at this level this:
Being an adjective, good modifies nouns and pronouns.

    What does modify mean?
    What does noun mean?
    What does pronoun mean?

    Well does this:
    gives more info about
    -adjectives
    -adverb
    -verb
    -phrase

guitou, I am sorry if I have offended you and my assumptions are ill-based.

I first remind them of the parts of speech and syntactic function. All of my students have been to school and know such things from the course of Russian.

Do you find that most of your students know the parts of speech in Russian? That is not the case here in France, most of them don't know the terminology in French, let alone in English.

Say a (Hungarian) teacher of Russian; otherwise, you make your utterance a bit ambiguous.
