    Negative questions

    Hello. I'm working as an English teacher in South Korea and I put together these lesson notes on the responses to negatively phrased questions and statements: there are some examples at the end.

    It's the sort of thing which gets only passing mention in text books, when it's a truly enormous source of misunderstanding throughout the world: I've routinely seen this mistake while travelling in Africa, SE Asia and eleswhere (the Korean English teachers here certainly also make this error, and continue to make it no matter how I've tried to tell them.)

    I'd be curious to know how other languages do get on without this formation...
