    need help

''Determine what the main purpose of (sth) is'' or ''Determine what is the main purpose of (sth)''
Is there a difference in structure when saying or writing that kind of sentences?

The second example is incorrect...you have to have is at the end.

Determine what what the main purpose of (sth) is.

    This is a statement

What is the main purpose of (sith)?

    This is a question.

Both statement and question need the verb TO BE (is).
